Contextware Launches KM Profiler™ a Service Offering for Knowledge Harvesting

KM Profiler bundles proven methodology with core Contextware OS technology to capture, organize and communicate critical knowledge

ANNANDALE, VA, July 8, 2009 – Contextware, Inc., provider of software solutions that improve organization performance and productivity, today announced the launch of a new bundled service offering.  Called KM Profiler, the service provides businesses of all sizes an affordable and rapid way to capture subject matter expert (SME) and critical business processes knowledge. The service is a fixed fee, fixed scope offering that helps businesses to capture, organize and share the tacit knowledge critical to the operation of their organization.

Many businesses are trying to address looming challenges related to pending retirements and workforce attrition. As experienced knowledge workers exit the business, new employees are expected to fill their roles.  These changes create significant business risk related to the transfer of critical knowledge but they also create significant opportunity as those companies that transfer this knowledge effectively gain competitive advantage over those that don’t.

KM Profiler combines Contextware’s proven methodology for capturing tacit information from SMEs with the company’s award winning technology for delivery of that information.  Once tacit knowledge is captured in Contextware, clients provide designated employees with secure, password protected access to the content via the web.  Key to the success of this effort is the capture and organization of information in the context of the business processes performed.

“We’ve created hundreds of profiles as part of delivering enterprise-wide solutions; however we’ve found significant interest for providing the exact same solutions, just in smaller, more discrete engagements,” stated David Austin, President of Contextware. “By bundling our methodology and technology into a fixed price service engagement we can deliver a cost effective product specific to a single SME or critical process takes days not months to deliver.”

A typical Profiler engagement will include an initial scoping of the effort, a series of iterative interviews with the SME and then final build out and release of the SME’s or process profile in Contextware.
