NIH Institute selects Contextware for communicating critical procedures

ANNANDALE, VA, February 12, 2004 – Contextware, Inc., provider of business productivity and knowledge management software, today announced that the Intramural Administrative Management Branch (IAMB) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has chosen Contextware OS to help them manage their internal administrative processes and procedures.

With Contextware OS, IAMB expects to convert its legacy printed procedures, bound in manual form, into a digital format. The digitized procedures will be centrally configurable and manageable, and will link to resources like information, people and applications. The application’s portal interface will allow employees to navigate through the digitized procedures, learning the procedures as well as accessing relevant information.

Says David Forbes, CEO of Contextware, “This is an ideal use of our technology. Before Contextware OS, NIAID would have had to turn to content management or portal vendors. But they only deal with the content itself – our software was designed so that organizations can develop a disciplined, process-structured framework that acts as a common interface to information. This gives users of the software an organization-specific context for retrieval of the right information required to do their jobs.”

In addition to the software license, NIAID also is purchasing Contextware Workshops to facilitate the Contextware OS implementation.
