Glen Buco, CFP®
Glen is the
President of West Financial Services, Inc., a wholly owned
subsidiary of Sandy Spring Bank Company. West Financial has been ranked
in the top 50 on Bloomberg Wealth Manager Magazine's list of the top
150 Wealth Managers nationwide. Glen is a Certified Financial Planner™
Practitioner and has served West Financial as Vice President of the
Financial Planning Department since 1984. Glen has been named as one of
"The Best Financial Advisers," in the nation by Worth Magazine,
1996-1998. He previously served as a member of the Board of Practice
Standards of the CFP Board as well as Vice President and a member of
the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Financial
Planners. Glen graduated from West Virginia University with a BA in
Political Science.
Jeremy Coote
Jeremy
Coote currently leverages his considerable international experience in
providing support on business strategy to senior executives in a number
of technology focused organizations.
Jeremy
was one of the key figures at SAP responsible for the tremendous market
share and performance in North America. Coote joined SAP in Switzerland
and moved to the U.S. in January 1990. In his eleven years at SAP
America, he served as chief financial officer, executive vice president
and then president of SAP America during the period when revenues grew
from $12m to $2.4b. In addition to spearheading the impressive sales
and professional services organization of more than 4000 people, Coote
was actively involved with many SAP customers ensuring their
satisfaction and success.
Subsequently,
Coote served for two years as vice president and general manager of
North America Operations for Siebel Systems ranked in this time by
Fortune magazine as the number one fastest growth company in America.
In this role, Coote was chartered with overseeing sales and operations
and driving Siebel’s explosive sales growth in North America.
Jeremy
Coote was most recently president of Manugistics, Inc., a leading
software and services provider of supply chain solutions.
Sharon
Flank, PhD
Dr. Flank is CEO of InfraTrac, a venture-backed start-up that uses advanced technology to detect counterfeits.
Before
founding InfraTrac, she ran a consulting firm, DataStrategy, providing
hands-on leadership in advanced technology applications to
DataStrategy’s portfolio companies. She is currently working with
Contextware to establish a strong technology base to support a wide
range of enterprise applications.
Sharon
previously served as CTO at eMotion, Inc., now part of Corbis. She
holds five patents, and has six more pending. From 1988 to 1998, Sharon
was a computational linguist at SRA International, building natural
language processing and information retrieval systems. She designed and
developed software for PNI, now Jupiter Media’s PictureQuest, which SRA
spun off in 1993. She also served as Director of Digital Library
Technology, locating and developing business opportunities in the areas
of information management, bioinformatics, and multimedia archiving,
search and retrieval.
Sharon
received her A.B. from Cornell University and her Ph.D. from Harvard in
linguistics. She has taught at Georgetown, Harvard and Pace University,
and has authored over 30 academic papers and presentations.
Kuni Goto
Kuni
is the President of Japan Link, Inc., an export-import service company
located in Kawasaki, Japan dedicated to the development and maintenance
of business between U.S. and Japanese companies. He has over 25 years
of extensive experience representing U.S. and Japanese companies,
performing strategic analysis, offering advice on positioning and
promotion, identifying buyers, partners, and distributors and advising
on licensing agreements and technology transfer. He has had personal
experience in developing and maintaining business relations between
Japanese companies and their foreign counterparts and is acquainted
with many top management executives of Japanese companies.
Prior
to Japan Link he was a co-owner of GOTO U.S.A., and before that he
worked for the Recruit Center in Kyoto, Japan as a member of its
business development team working with major Japanese companies. Kuni
graduated with an undergraduate degree in Japanese jurisprudence
(including a stint at University College of Aberystwyth, Wales, U.K)
and with a Master’s Degree in International Relations both from Kyoto
Sangyo University, Kyoto. He has completed extensive post graduate work
at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. , U.S.A.
Mark
Modica,
MSA CPA
Mark
S. Modica operates a boutique financial services firm specializing in
venture backed software companies. Mark has over twenty years
experience funding (over $300M in capital deployed) and growing early
stage software companies (over 100 software companies assisted). Mark
most recently was a general partner of Avansis Ventures, an early stage
technology fund and served as the Chief Financial Officer of Digital
Sandbox, an enterprise risk management software company.
Mark
was also the founder and CEO of CyberCFO, a venture-backed management
consulting firm. At CyberCFO he co-created the “JumpStart” networking
series which was a rich source of early stage deal flow for the
Washington venture community. Prior to CyberCFO, Mark held various
positions of financial management with public and private software
companies including APACHE Medical Systems (IPO, NASDAQ) and Infodata
Systems (NASDAQ) as well as a boutique merchant bank.
Mark
received degrees from Trinity College and Northeastern University, is a
CPA, and a member of the board of directors of Contextware. He
previously served on the boards of Core Communications, Trust Digital
and on the advisory board of Digital Sandbox.
Gregory
J. Owens
Greg currently
serves as President, CEO and Chairman of IronPlanet, Inc. a global
online marketplace for the buying and selling of heavy equipment. Prior to
joining IronPlanet, Greg served as Managing Director at Red Zone
Capital a Washington, D.C. based private equity firm focused on high
growth turnaround opportunities. Prior to that role, Greg served as
CEO and Chairman of Manugistics Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:MANU), a global
provider of solutions for supply chain management. He also serves and
has served on several outside boards including Serena Software, Inc.,
S1 Corporation and SecureWorks, Inc. Prior to Manugistics, Greg was
Managing Partner for Logistics and Planning, and Global Supply Chain
Management, at Andersen Consulting (Accenture). Greg holds a B.S. in
Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Brendan
Ryan
Brendan is principal
at Brendan Ryan Employee Benefits Consulting, a professional services
firm specializing in employee benefits consulting, insurance placement
and liaison, human resource outsourcing, employee mediation services,
and benefits plan design. Before that, he was Senior Vice President and
Manager of Employee Benefits and Retirement Plan Services for Sedgwick
James of Virginia, where he directed the Benefits Practice in Sedgwick’s
Washington, Baltimore, Richmond area office.Brendan served for five years as one
of eight members of the Sedgwick National Practice Board. Brendan served
as Chairman of the Board, Arlington County, Virginia Chapter, American
Red Cross and Chairman of the Board, Virginia/District of Columbia State
Service Council, American Red Cross. Brendan has a degree from Georgetown
University and attended University of Wisconsin Law School.
